Warmer and dry today, chance for showers and storms Wednesday

LUBBOCK, Texas -

Cold start this morning with a mostly clear sky.

TODAY: Nice this afternoon with the high near 61, mostly sunny with a southwest wind 10-15mph. If traveling across Texas not much expected besides clouds increasing down state.

TONIGHT: Mostly clear with lows in the 20s and 30s again.

CHRISTMAS: Increasing clouds with temperatures a little cooler with highs in the mid to upper 50s. We have a chance for a few showers to develop late in the evening and overnight.

EXTENDED: A low pressure system will dig down the western half of the US over the next few days. Ahead of this system moisture will increase with the cloud cover increasing. This moisture will then be lifted giving us a good chance for showers and storm Wednesday. Another Low pressure system behind this one will possibility bring a chance for snow by this weekend. Models differ on what this system will do and when we may see more precipitation. For now I am just giving us a slight chance for snow late Friday and Saturday. One this will will get is much colder temperatures with highs in the 30s and 40s Friday and through the weekend.

Merry Christmas and safe travels! Robert will have the next updated forecast tonight on the News at Nine.
