Daughters of the American Revolution hosts Veteran's Christmas Wreath ceremony

Posted: Updated:
LUBBOCK, Texas -

The Daughters of the American Revolution lay Christmas wreathes at the Lubbock-area War Memorial near 82nd and Nashville.

Along with the commemoration ceremony each year, the organization picks a project to support. This year, Regent Stacy Keith chose the "Guitars for Vets" program. The program provides acoustic instruments to veterans suffering from post traumatic stress.

City Councilman Randy Christian said recognizing veterans shouldn't just be a one time celebration, but year around.

"I think anything you do that shows support for the veterans is something that we all have a responsibility and duty to do and today with this special wreath," he said. "Wreaths are always symbolic of the Christmas holiday that we don't forget them and they don't let the season and activities crowd out our recognition and support and thanks to our veterans and this wreath presentation is certainly appropriate."
