LUBBOCK, Texas -

All his life, Roy Taylor has been a devoted Elvis Presley fan. For his 54th birthday, his family is doing all it can to make sure he gets to celebrate honoring the king.

"Probably has been since he was 5 or six years old." Roy's brother Ricky Taylor said.

Roy turns 54 on January 9, a day after Elvis' birthday.

"We would really love for him to be able to go to Graceland," Ricky said.

That 13.8 acre estate in Memphis, Tennessee is the beloved musician's home, visited by thousands of fans each year.

Taylor has been trying to put this trip together for a few years now. Despite funds being short, it is always on his mind.

"We've always just wanted to go but just never had the extra cash," Ricky said. "We did a go fund me about 2 years ago that didn't do very much at all and we just couldn't do it at that time."

Taylor said the money raised in the past is still put aside for the trip, but now, the family has a new campaign.

"We're just trying to raise the money enough for him to go down there," Ricky said. "We're going to do the best we can anyway."

For Roy, it is about paying tribute to his idol.

"Anything Elvis, he comes and brings it straight to us," Ricky said.

For Ricky, it is about witnessing his brother's dream come true.

"Took care of him forever since my mother and dad passed away in 2001, 2002," Ricky said. "We've always done everything we can for him and he's a happy boy, a happy man."
