Man shoots at stolen car as suspects flee

LUBBOCK, Texas -

A man attempts to stop a vehicle burglary by firing shots as a suspect fled with the stolen car early Saturday morning. 

Lubbock Police responded to a shots fired call near 85th and Salisbury Ave.

Police report the car owner came outside to find multiple suspects stealing his vehicle. The owner then fired multiple shots as the suspects fled. 

While on scene, officers received a call about an injured male with a gunshot wound near 54th and Avenue G. The injured male was taken to the hospital with moderate injuries.

Officers searched the area for the stolen car in the same area. 17-year-old Raymond Molinar was at the home with the injured male. After an on scene investigation, Molinar was arrested for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, resisting arrest, failure to identify, organized crime, and an outstanding felony warrant.

The circumstances surrounding the injured male are still under investigation. Additional arrests for the stolen vehicle are possible.
