BROWNFIELD, Texas -

Crews are working to extinguish flames at a major fire inside West Gin in Brownfield.

According to Brownfield News, the Farmers Coop, homes and other businesses were evacuated due to the fueling station at the coop. Burning debris, carried by the high winds, ignited modules on the gin's yard.

Police are working to clear the area, except for emergency crews, with concerns about large propane tanks at the Brownfield Farmers Coop that are dangerously near the fires.

Firefighters from Tahoka are assisting Brownfield Fire Department with the fire.

Brownfield ISD released the following statement in reference to the fire:

Due to a large fire at the West Gin, BISD will not run the following bus routes west of town.

Route 2
Route 9
Route 11

We will still drop students off at the Boys' & Girls' Club.

Please contact your campus to make alternative arrangements to pick up your student if they ride one of these busses.

Each campus will remain open until all students have been picked up or safely transported to their families.

All other routes will continue as normal.
