Warmer next few days, colder and windy Thursday

LUBBOCK, Texas -

Few slick spots with patchy ice possible this morning on the roads, so give yourself some extra time to travel.

TODAY: Snow will continue to melt away with the high near 56. Partly sunny sky, southwest wind a light breeze 8-16mph.

TONIGHT: Partly cloudy sky with the low near 32.

WEDNESDAY: Warming trend continues for 1 more day with the high near 62. The wind will start to pick up later in the day and becoming breezy that evening.

THURSDAY: Cold front pushes through the area early in the morning. This will bring a very strong northerly wind 30-40mph with gust to 50mph. The low pressure system will interact with better moisture as it pushes east. This might bring some light precipitation on the back end of the system. Temperatures might be cold enough for this to turn to a mixed precipitation, but likely just some light showers.

EXTENDED: The wind will start to back off later Friday. Temperatures will rebound quickly to the upper 50s for the weekend.

Have a great Tuesday! Matt will have the next updated forecast on the News at Nine.
