Engineers are going to start evaluating a stretch of Woodrow Road for improvement.
Lubbock County Commissioners accepted a grant from the Metropolitan Planning Organization and TXDOT to help fund the work.
The project focuses on Woodrow Road between the Tahoka Highway and Slide Road. They'll be evaluating how many lanes to add and how to set up intersections.
Commissioners say safety is the priority. Precinct 1 Commissioner Bill McKay cites the number of crashes near Tahoka Highway and U.S. 87.
80 percent of the money will come from grants. The county will fund the rest.
