CLOVIS, New Mexico -

A Curry County jury found Tanner Autrey, age 25, of Clovis, guilty of criminal sexual penetration, a second degree felony as well as first degree kidnapping, after two days of trial Friday morning. The jury deliberated for more than two hours before rendering their verdict.

The case stems from a report made by the victim in December of 2016. The victim reported to Clovis Police that the defendant had bound her arms with duct tape and forced himself sexually on her. The victim was described as having bruises from head to toe as a result of the attack.

Autrey was arrested and taken into custody but later bonded out and fled to Seattle, Washington where he was ultimately found and made to return to face his charges.

The jury heard testimony during the two-day trial this week from the victim, law enforcement, a DNA lab analyst from the State Crime Lab, and a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner.

Autrey faces up to twenty nine years in the New Mexico Department of Corrections and a lifetime registration as a sex offender.
