***Winter Storm Watch in effect for Friday & Saturday***

LUBBOCK, Texas -

TODAY: Staying chilly again with highs in the low 50s. Cloud cover increasing through the day and a light breeze from the south 10-18mph.

TONIGHT: Mostly cloudy with the low near 35.

THURSDAY: Cold front pushes into the area. This will keep our highs down in the 40s with a light northeast wind 5-15mph. Staying mostly cloudy with a few light showers possible.

***Winter Storm Watch in effect from Thursday evening to Saturday morning***

Low pressure system to the west will push closer to the area. This will increase our chance for precipitation starting late Thursday through early after noon Saturday before clearing east. This system will interact with the cold temperatures and will bring the chance for accumulating ice and snow, this leading to travel concerns for West Texas. Likely some very cold rain with mixed precipitation Friday afternoon, with the better chance for this wintry precipitation later Friday and early Saturday.

EXTENDED: Temperatures will be dropping to the 30s for highs both Friday and Saturday. This system will clear out Saturday with highs rebounding slowly next week with more sunshine.

Have a great Wednesday! Get your local traveling taken care of like shopping and getting gas, so you are not dealing with this if it gets bad. Matt will have the next update on this system tonight on the News at Nine.
