The Buddy Holly Center announces West Texas Watercolor Society Exhibition

The Buddy Holly Center will host the annual exhibition of the West Texas Watercolor Society December 7, 2018 through January 20, 2019, on display in the Fine Arts Gallery. Artists from across the region will present their creations in a wide range of watercolor styles and methods.

Initially organized in 1962 and formally chartered by the State of Texas in 1973, the Society was instituted for the purpose of promoting the highest aesthetic standards in the art of watercolor painting.

This year’s juror for the exhibition will be Megan Harris. Harris received a Bachelor of Arts with a double major in studio art and history from Radford University and a Master of Fine Arts in studio art with an emphasis in painting and ceramics from West Texas A&M University.

Participating artists in this year’s winter exhibition include: Cecilia Adams, Nancye H. Briggs, Cynthia Coon, James T. Davis, Deidra Brooks, Jo Beth Gilliam, Frank Harmon, Margaret Hodgson, Teresa Hollums, Neal Kleman, Colette Moore, Annalee Schubert Narmour, Reg Narmour, Dyan Newton, Tim Oliver, Carol Peterson, Suzy ‘Pal’ Powell, Iva Salinas, and Kathryn Thomas.

The West Texas Watercolor society will have members doing watercolor demonstrations during the First Friday Art Trail on Friday, December 7, at the Buddy Holly Center, located at 1801 Crickets Ave.
