Windy Saturday, turning colder late Sunday

Posted: Updated:
LUBBOCK, Texas -

VERY WINDY DAY: Here are some of the top wind gusts from the Texas Tech Mesonet Friday:

Tatum 59mph
Anton 55mph
Abernathy 55mph
Seminole 54mph
Brownfield 54mph
Plains 54mph
Reese Center 54mph

New Home 54mph
Seagraves 54mph
Denver City 53mph
O'Donnell 53mph
Slaton 53mph
Olton 53mph
Andrew 52mph
Welch 52mph

The wind has diminished some but will stay up through the night. Wind W 18-28mph, low temp near 40.

SATURDAY: Windy and mostly sunny, high near 63. Wind W/NW 20-32mph, some gusts above 40mph. This isn't as bad as Friday, but still a windy day.

SUNDAY: Clouds will increase through the day, high 55. Breezy, with a SW/W wind early becoming N/NE by late afternoon into the evening. It'll be colder north of the city, with low 40s for the high around Amarillo.

A cold front is what's bringing that northeast wind. With a storm system sliding across the region there might be support for a few light showers late Sunday night into Monday morning. This could either be light rain or a light rain-snow mix. But the chance is low and any amounts will be light.

NEXT WEEK: Much colder, high only the 40s Monday through Wednesday. There might be some rain by late Thursday or Friday.

7-day forecast

Have a great weekend, Robert will have a full update to your forecast Saturday afternoon.
