Lubbock Police waiting for confirmation of remains in Zoe Campos case

LUBBOCK, Texas -

The Lubbock Police Department is waiting for confirmation of the human remains found Friday.

The remains were confirmed to be human, but have not been identified.

LPD said the remains were found in connection to the Zoe Campos investigation.

Carols Rodriquez, 25, was charged with murder in the case.

The Lubbock Police Department released the following statement Monday:

Lubbock Police Chief Greg Stevens will hold a press conference with the latest updates once the human remains have been positively identified. The Medical Examiner's Office is unable to provide a timeline on when that identification process will be complete.

The Lubbock Police Department would like to thank the many organizations and volunteers who assisted in the investigation over the last two weeks. Their assistance and quick response provided LPD with the resources needed to conduct extensive searches related to the Zoe Campos investigation.

Some of those outside resources included cadaver dogs provided by George Cavitt, 30 volunteers and 4 cadaver dogs from Texas Search and Rescue, and Ryan Dennis with Ground Penetrating Radar Systems. The Lubbock Professional Police Association provided meals for personnel and volunteers, Texas Tech University provided space at the coliseum to accommodate the TEXSAR volunteers and the City of Lubbock Water Department allowed LPD to safely store equipment at one of the treatment plants for the search at 66th and Interstate-27. Agencies like Texas Parks and Wildlife were also on standby with equipment in the event we needed more resources.

The amount of support provided by personnel across Texas does not go unnoticed and is greatly appreciated by the LPD detectives, crime scene investigators and other LPD officers who have dedicated countless hours to this investigation.
