Woman shot outside bar in east Lubbock

LUBBOCK, Texas -

Just before 4:30 a.m., Sunday, a women was shot outside a bar in east Lubbock. 

Police report she was at the Hitching Post near 19th Street and MLK celebrating her birthday with friends. 

The victim told police she was outside the bar when she heard two gunshots coming from the street, started running to her car and heard a third shot. She said she realized she had been shot because her right arm went numb. She got into a friends car and was driven to the hospital. 

The victim told police she did not see who shot the gun and that she did not know why she had been shot. 

A witness told police she saw someone standing in the street near the curb with his arm pointed in the air, but was not sure if the suspect was holding a gun. 

The witnesses also said there was a fight inside the bar and the shooting may be related. 

According to the police report, the suspect was fighting with an unknown person and fired two shots into the air. The crowd began scattering when the suspect fired an additional shot that hit the woman as she was running. 

She sustained a gunshot wound to her right shoulder and is non life-threatening.
