Fundraiser to support homeless children in Lubbock
Family Promise of Lubbock is hosting its 20th Anniversary Celebration Gala, a fundraising event to support their mission to provide homeless families with children in the community on November 8th at the Overton Hotel.
The organization aims to provide families with children the tools necessary to achieve long term financial, parental and personal self-sufficiency through a comprehensive program of temporary housing, case management and supportive services.
Family Promise of Lubbock opened it’s doors to homeless families in November of 1998. Twenty years later, over 500 families have been served by the program. Among those families are 483 children under the age of five years old.
The theme for the gala is “Celebrating 20 Years of Keeping the Promise.” Karen Olsen, the founder of Family Promise will be the key note speaker. Attendees of the gala will be blessed by testimonies of current and past families who have been served by Family Promise. Expect to be moved by these families as they tell of their journey from being homeless to becoming self-supporting. They will also describe how their participation in Family Promise has supported them on their journey. There will be silent and live auctions.
Tickets for the event are $50.00 each, and are available by calling Family Promise at (806) 744-5035. Doors will be opened at 6:00 p.m. to view auction items. The program will begin at 6:30 with opening remarks from Senator Charles Perry and Mayor Dan Pope.
Family Promise of Lubbock, Inc. is a nonprofit 501(c)3, organization. In past year, twenty families are now self- supporting and no longer homeless as a result of receiving guidance from Family Promise.
