INTERVIEW: Caraway cites agriculture, music, military experience

LUBBOCK, Texas -

T.G. Caraway, the Democrat running for Lubbock County Commissioner Precinct 4, says maintaining county roads is top priority, if elected.

He says he'll "sit down with our roads building crew and figure out, you know, do they need more training to be able to go in here and maintain our county roads."

He says many people in Precinct 4 have said the roads need to be fixed.

Caraway says he supports the proposed Lubbock County Expo Center, which is also on the November ballot.

He says, as a Lubbock native, "I spent a lot of time in that Coliseum. From the rodeo, to watching the Maines Brothers play, the Kalf Fry, seeing President Ford speak." He said the building was no longer feasible to maintain and use.

"We have to have something for rodeos. We need to have something to take the place of of our county stock show. Those barns out there, at the [South Plains] Fairgrounds were build in the 1940s."

"I think the hotel-motel tax is the best way to go about this."
