Students across Lubbock ISD learn about agriculture through Ag in the Bag

Posted: Updated:
LUBBOCK, Texas -

Lubbock area fourth-graders focusing on how agriculture impacts their daily lives.

Students from across Lubbock ISD visit stations showing different aspects of agriculture including cotton, wheat, food science and beef.

"I think that Ag in the Bag is a way to help these students develop an appreciation for agriculture, but also to help expose them to different things they could do within agriculture. And as you said, it may be that some of them will farm some day and we certainly hope that that's the case," Mary Jane Buerkle, with South Plains Cotton Growers, said.

The program works to show students  where their food and fiber comes from and how crucial it is to the South Plains economy.
