LUBBOCK, Texas -

(Press Release)

WHAT: Jeramy Davies was the VP of the Texas Tech Health Science Association when he organized a marrow drive with Cooks Children’s Hospital. He joined the Be The Match Registry© at that drive in 2010.

In 2015, Jeramy received a call that he was a match for a patient in need. He answered the call and went on to donate blood stem cells (PBSC) that same year. During this time, Jeramy’s wife, Laura was battling cancer. Laura was in remission when Jeramy went through the donation process, but sadly she passed away in the following months. Laura went with Jeramy to his donation and told him before she died that his work with Be The Match was what made her most proud.

After his wife’s passing, Jeramy left his job and went on a road trip that eventually led to meet the recipient of his stem cells, Kelly Riviero, in New Jersey. Kelly and Jeramy became really good friends and are now more like siblings than anything else – they both have the ability to quote movies, both love vintage video games, and cooking.

Now, Kelly is in need of a kidney transplant and Jeramy didn’t think twice about donating again. He’s been approved as a donor and they are looking to set a date in December for the donation.

This weekend, Jeramy is returning to Texas Tech to be honored on the field for his amazing donation story as part of Be The Match’s associate sponsorship of the game – truly an amazing Homecoming story.

WHEN: Saturday, October 20, 2018, 2:30 p.m.
