LUBBOCK, Texas -

Thomas Brown, a Lubbock ISD employee and Vietnam War veteran is recognized for his service, both in the classroom and on the battle field, with an honor flight.

Brown works as a transition specialist for students with behavioral programs. He began his career with the district in 1969 as a Spanish teacher after completing his service as a Sergeant in the U.S. Army.

Joining him on this honor flight is his brother, Dell Brown, a Korean War vet.

"We were looking enough to get picked to go on the honor flight and I am a Vietnam veteran and so we are looking forward to that and I think it will be a great time," Thomas said.

Thomas was recognized in a special luncheon with family and friends. He and his brother will take off on the South Plains Honor Flight along with other military vets this weekend.
