LUBBOCK, Texas -

Advancing infrastructure resilience and mastering extremes in complex environments is the focus and title of a workshop hosted by Texas Tech's Civil, Environmental and Construction Engineering Department.

Experts and investigators from applied research and private public sectors exchange concepts and ideas related to infrastructure.

"What's important to discuss especially these days it has to do with how interconnected our world has become because of organizational traits and also the improvement of technology," Alexandros Taflandis, Associate Professor at the University of Notre Dame, said. "So, even small disruptions these days can have significant effects in both the local community but also in the global economy."

professor taflanidis says he hopes that through these workshops researchers and students can get a full understanding of how complex these problems are and the importance of collaboration between institutions and other countries in order to find solutions.
