updated 5:11 p.m. - Severe storms have moved farther north into the Texas Panhandle. It's quiet around our area now...with the potential for storms to develop pretty quickly as we go through this evening. Severe watch continues until Midnight CDT west of Lubbock. Some more lift will likely move across the region early in the morning, bringing another round of storms.
posted 2:57 p.m. - A severe thunderstorm watch is in place for Eastern New Mexico and the western South Plains until Midnight CDT / 11 p.m. MDT. It is in the green counties below:
Right now we're watching a few severe storms to the NW. A tornado was observed just after 2:30p and again before 2:50p to the north of Dimmitt, south of Hereford. This storm is quickly moving NE. A tornado warning is in effect until 3p for northern Castro County.

Showers and storms are likely across the area rest of today into tonight. Then more storms are likely tomorrow. We'll have an updated forecast posted here later today with more specifics.
