Here are some of the totals from the showers and storms yesterday from the Tech Mesonet:
Near Tech 0.01"
TODAY: Another chance for showers and storms during the afternoon hours and continuing tonight. These will develop across the western half of the area move east through the evening. Storms that develop have the chance to become severe with high wind gusts and large hail. Clouds will increase through the day with a south wind 10-15mph. High near 86.
TONIGHT: Low near 62, mostly cloudy with just some showers clearing the area.
SATURDAY: Some areas of heavy rain expected as a front stalls across the area. This will bring showers and storms that could produce a quick half to inch of rainfall. Cloud cover and the front will help temperatures stay cool in the 60s and 70s for highs.
SUNDAY: Another round of severe weather expected if temperatures warm up. If we stay cool likely to have showers and storms with heavy rainfall. To the west models showing the temperatures warmer than Lubbock and that might lead to the the severe weather. High near 74, also a breezy southeast wind 10-20mph though the day.
NEXT WEEK: Rain will continue Monday and likely early Tuesday before clearing east. Overall flooding may become a concern with some models predicting 1-3 inches of rainfall across the area through the weekend and into next week. Then another storm system will move across the area to bring additional rain chances to end next week. Temperatures will stay near the average for this time of year.
