INTERVIEW: Corley wants 'small business' mentality on Commissioner's Court

Posted: Updated:

Jason Corley is the Republican candidate for County Commissioner Precinct 2, vying to replace Mark Heinrich.

A guest on the News@Nine Wednesday, Corley said the court would be more conservative if it elects him and Chad Seay, along with County Judge-elect Curtis Parrish, saying all three are self-employed and would bring that mindset to the court.

"One thing we can do is vote in the effective rate each year," Corley said, "and that will help limit the appraisal creep we're all experiencing."

Corley reiterated his promise to slash at least his own pay as a commissioner if he's elected, and said he would like an independent panel in charge of elected officials' salaries in the county.

Corley's full interview is attached to this story. The last day to register to vote is Oct. 9, early voting begins Oct. 22, and Election Day is Nov. 6.
