LUBBOCK, Texas -

(Press Release)

On Thursday, October 25, High Point Village will host their annual Storybook Gala to celebrate their 10-year anniversary. In order to highlight the impact the organization has had throughout the years, three individuals will share how their lives have been personally influenced by High Point Village – Taylor Bolin, Taylor Davis and Chris Brogan.

Taylor Bolin, a former volunteer, was so inspired by her time at High Point Village that she started Ausome Adaptive, where she coaches, mentors and consults for individuals with special needs in Wichita Falls, Texas. Taylor Davis, the current Art Instructor, has had a strong connection to those with special needs since she was very young. Her late brother, Chris, had Down syndrome and she took a very active role in his life. Chris Brogan, a current Villager, was able to find renewed purpose and a sense of community at High Point Village after a near-fatal moped accident in 2012.

“This year’s gala is different from any other gala we’ve had,” said Executive Director Doug Spearman. “We really wanted to spotlight the stories of our Villagers and their families.”

High Point Village’s biggest annual fundraiser will take place in the Civic Center Ballroom. The doors will open at 5:30pm and guests will be able to get drinks, shop in the Villager Marketplace, meet the Villagers, and enjoy live music in the ballroom foyer. During the event, High Point’s Villagers will be showcasing their talents with two dynamic performances, including a live painting that will be auctioned off at the end of the night. This year, bid board items will be available for guests to bid on a week prior to the event.

“The gala is my favorite night of the year,” said Gala Chair Melynn Henry. “We get to see the community come together and support such a noble organization.”
