Former head of Floydada Housing Authority pleads guilty to stealing money

FLOYDADA, Texas -

The former head of the Floydada Housing Authority pleads guilty to misprision of felony.

Court documents show Velma Sue Cochran stole and covered up just less than $24,000 thousand dollars between November 2013 and June 2014. That's federal money from the FHA's contract with the Department of Housing and Urban Development.

The FHA is in charge of administering and providing low income housing in Floyd County.

Cochran faces up to three years in prison and a fine up to $250,000.
