Lea County authorities conduct sex offender compliance operation

LEA COUNTY, New Mexico -

On September 23, 24, 25, 2018, Lea County Sheriff’s Deputies conducted a county wide sex offender compliance operation. Officers from New Mexico Adult Probation and Parole, Special Agents from the New Mexico Attorney General’s Office Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force and the United States Marshals Service assisted in the operation. The purpose of the operation was to verify addresses of sex offenders in Lea County.

131 sex offender address verifications were completed. The operation resulted in three (3) arrests, one (1) Internet Crimes Against Children investigation and one (1) registration of sex offender violation.

The following sex offenders were placed on an arrest and hold by Adult Probation and Parole:

Sunday, September 23, 2018, A Lea County Sheriff’s Deputy contacted Daniel T. Demory, age 31 of Lovington, New Mexico at his residence in the 400 block of Love. There was evidence located that revealed Demory was in possession of both adult and child pornography. The pornography could result in additional charges and is a violation of his probation/parole. Items were seized as a result of a search warrant and will be processed to determine if he will face additional charges. Demory was transported to the Lea County Detention Center where he is currently being held without bond.

Sunday, September 23, 2018, A Lea County Sheriff’s Deputy contacted Othon B. Calvillo, age 55 of Hobbs, New Mexico at his residence in the 1200 block of S. Landfill Road. There was evidence located that revealed Calvillo was in possession of pornography which is a violation of his probation. Calvillo is being held at the Lea County Detention Center without bond. S

unday, September 23, 2018, A Lea County Sheriff’s Deputy contacted Rigoberto Marin, age 33 of Hobbs, New Mexico at his residence in the 300 block of S. Avenue B. An onsite forensic extraction of data was conducted on Marin’s personal cell phone. There was evidence located that revealed Calvillo was in possession of pornography which is a violation of his probation. Marin is being held at the Lea County Detention Center without bond.
