Low clouds are tricky to forecast. And they usually make forecasters concerned. In this case, I was wrong on the morning low because clouds stuck around and dry air didn't advance in like I expected. So we started in the low to mid 50s this morning. Then this afternoon the clouds were slow to erode, which kept the temperature down.
TONIGHT: Some low clouds and fog are again possible, low near 57. Wind S/SW 5-12mph. Sunrise 7:40.
TOMORROW: Some clouds early giving way to a sunny afternoon, high near 86. Wind SW/SE 5-15mph.
For tomorrow night's football games it'll be in the low 80s by 6:30 dropping to the upper 60s around 9:30. Mostly clear, wind SE/E 10-15mph.
WEEKEND: We're watching a front that should be over the Panhandle tomorrow. It'll probably wash out or stay north of here, but one computer model does show it moving south of Lubbock Saturday. It's not a strong front, so would only make the difference of a few degrees.
For now we're forecasting lower 80s Saturday. Wind E/SE 5-15mph. Some low clouds are possible in the morning and may be around for kickoff of the Texas Tech game. More sun for the afternoon, end of the game near 80. Wind E/SE 5-15mph.
Sunday will also be sunny, high near 83.
NEXT WEEK: We'll have more humidity returning to the region and it looks fairly mild. Tropical system Rosa will be moving up toward the Baja, helping pull Pacific moisture this way. There will also be an upper low approaching from the west, pulling up Pacific and Gulf moisture. We have a slight chance for showers and storms Tuesday and Wednesday, with a better chance Thursday and Friday.
It's too far out for specifics, but it looks like there again could be some soaking rain for our region late next week.
Have a great rest of your evening. Bobby will have a full update to the forecast here early tomorrow.
