THIS AFTERNOON: A cold front is moving across our area, ushering in a gusty north wind and colder air. At mid-afternoon the temperature ranged from mid 70s around Friona and Dimmitt to 90 in Lubbock, lower 90s farther south. Here is the current temperature, wind and radar:
THIS EVENING: North wind 15-25mph, some gusts around 35mph. It'll be windy for the Lubbock ISD Band Extravaganza. You can watch the Extravaganza on FOX34 News Now.
There might be a few isolated showers this evening.
TONIGHT: The rain chance is much better late tonight through the first half of tomorrow. It won't be as heavy as last week's rain. Some locations will pick up a few tenths of an inch, with isolated totals of 1/2" to 1". Low temp near 51, wind N/NE 12-25mph.
TOMORROW: Rain should slowly taper off through the day. Clouds will hang around. NE wind 15-20mph in the morning dropping off to 10-15mph late in the day.
It'll stay cool...high only in the 50s, more than 20 degrees below the average.
REST OF THE WEEK: It'll clear out tomorrow night, setting up a colder Thursday morning. Lubbock should drop to 46, with low 40s northwest of the city. By Thursday afternoon it'll be back in the upper 70s with lots of sun.
Friday will climb a few more degrees. The weekend looks mostly sunny and dry at this point. High near 79 Saturday, which may feel a lot warmer than that if you'll be on the east side at Jones Stadium for the West Virginia-Tech game.
Humidity may increase supporting a rain chance by middle of next week.
Have a great rest of your day. Bobby will have a full update to the forecast here early tomorrow.
