SOAKING RAIN: We've picked up about 1.15" of rain at the Lubbock airport last night and today. Much of the city has picked up at least an inch. Here are some of the top 24-hour rain totals through 3:45 p.m. in our area on the Texas Tech Mesonet:

THIS EVENING: The north wind will stay fairly strong. It's been gusting to 40mph this afternoon, sustained nearly to 30mph. It'll be cool and windy for the football games, temperature near 64 at 6:30 p.m. dropping to the upper 50s by 9 p.m. Here is current radar and wind speed:

The number of showers will be dropping through the evening, though we still can't rule out some rain this evening into tonight. All the heavy rain has moved well east of our area.

TONIGHT: Low near 55, wind N 10-20mph.

TOMORROW: Gradually clearing, becoming mostly sunny. High 75, wind N/NE 7-15mph. Clouds will hang around longer east of Lubbock. There might even be a few showers east/southeast of Lubbock.

SUNDAY: A refreshing, cooler start with the low near 53 in Lubbock. We expect upper 40s northwest of the city. By the afternoon high near 77, mostly sunny. Wind N/E 5-12mph.

NEXT WEEK: Warmer Monday and Tuesday with the next chance for rain Tuesday night into early Wednesday. A front will drop the temperature some for Wednesday and Thursday.

TEXAS TECH FORECAST: There's been heavy rain all across Oklahoma today. The rain will continue around Stillwater this evening, gradually fading. Tomorrow there's a slight chance for rain during the day, but the game itself looks dry. Kickoff lower 70s dropping to the mid 60s by the end of the game. NE/E wind 5-15mph. Guns Up! (And not a variant of this term another school may use)
