Breezy and cool today, rain chances diminishing

Posted: Updated:

As of 6AM here are the current rain totals over the last 24 hours:

Current radar at 6 in the morning shows the heavier rain continuing for the eastern counties. This is also where the Flood Watch continues where some rainfall rates could be an inch per hour. There are some light showers continuing for the western South Plains, this will bring some light additional totals.

TODAY: A cold front is marching south and will push through the area midday. This will continue to bring some light showers across much of the area, with heavier precipitation to the east. Also, high near 71 and will occur before the front. By late afternoon it will be in the mid 60s, so take a jacket to work for the afternoon. A strong north-northeast wind will accompany the front 20-25mph with gust to 30s.

TONIGHT: High School Football games will be cold and breezy. There might be a few showers across parts of the area, but should not have delays.

Much cooler than this morning with lows in the 50s. Mostly cloudy sky, northeast wind will diminish 10-20mph. There might still be some lingering showers continuing into early morning.

WEEKEND: Staying cool with the highs in the 70s and lows staying in the 50s. Less rain chances  and more sunshine.

NEXT WEEK: Warmer to start then another front late Tuesday to drop highs back to the upper 70s. Also, another slight chance for some more rain with this front into Wednesday.

Have a great Friday and weekend! Matt will have the next update to the forecast on the News at Nine. You can stay updated through the day on the FOX34 Facebook and Twitter Pages.
