THIS AFTERNOON: It's been a partly cloudy afternoon with the temperature in the mid 80s. Not too far away there have been a few isolated showers, just east of Abilene. This is a sign of what's to come this weekend.
There's been widespread rainfall for the southern half of the state.
TONIGHT: Low near 64, partly cloudy. Wind SE/E 5-10mph.
TOMORROW: More clouds and humidity, high near 81. There's a 40% chance for a shower or storm in Lubbock through the day. The chance is lower to the NW of the city.
The tropical wave downstate is sending a lot of humidity up this way. Data today has actually backed off some on the rain potential. So we may get through the Texas Tech game without rain or a lightning delay. But I'd be prepared for some rain to move through. It doesn't take much in these real humid setups to get showers to form.
Kickoff at 3:20p around 76, climbing to a high near 81. Wind ESE 5-12mph.
SUNDAY: Lower chance for a shower or storm, partly to mostly cloudy, high 83.
Because humidity levels will be so high throughout the atmosphere, any storms this weekend will be able to produce some heavy rainfall. The severe risk is low.
NEXT WEEK: It'll be warmer and sunny to begin the week with a slight chance for rain and storms Thursday into Friday with some cooler air moving in by Friday.
Have a great weekend and Guns Up! for Tech. Robert will have a full update to the forecast here tomorrow.
