LUBBOCK, Texas -

Lubbock Police are investigating a deadly shooting Wednesday evening near Baylor and North Detroit.

Officers responded to calls of shots fired a little after 7 p.m. They found two men who had been injured. Gabriel Rodriguez, 36, died at the hospital. Another man should recover; he had moderate injuries not from gun shots. Police say initial information shows the two victims are brothers who lived at the home where the shooting occurred. Through the investigation, it appears the shooting was the result of an ongoing dispute between the victims and the male suspect or suspects.

As our investigators continue to work the case today, I’ll put out any additional updates as they become available.

Additional Lubbock Police officers as well as investigators with the Texas Anti-Gang Center joined on the case.

Initial confirmation of one death came from a release from Texas Tech Police, which relayed information because this happened just north of the Tech campus. That notice identified the gunman as a Hispanic man who was seen near the scene wearing a black shirt and tan pants and was driving away in a green SUV.
