Best Buddies International asks Lubbock schools to adopt inclusion programs

Posted: Updated:
LUBBOCK, Texas -

"Best Buddies International" wants Lubbock schools to adopt its inclusion programs. It's the world's largest organization dedicated to including those with intellectual and development disabilities in every-day life.

Tim Siegel, whose son, Luke, suffered a traumatic brain injury from a golf cart crash a couple years ago, was the guest speaker.

"When you're talking about Buddies and the impact, it's not just for children like my son, but regular students every day in middle school and high school," Siegel said.

Best Buddies focuses on mentorship programs allowing students with disabilities to better interact in social environments.

It serves more than 2,500 schools in 51 countries, including a chapter at Texas Tech.
