Heavy rain this morning, cool this afternoon - FOX34 Lubbock

Heavy rain this morning, cool this afternoon

Posted: Updated:

We have some heavy rain falling across portions of the area. The heavier rain has been in Dickens, Crosby, Motley, and Briscoe counties. Rainfall rates have been an inch or more per hour. Caprock Canyons State Park has received over 3" of rain since midnight, White River Lake in over 2.50".

TODAY: This activity will continue through the early afternoon with the heavier precipitation pushing south. Still might see some showers and a few storms this afternoon.  If the clouds stay in put highs will will be in the 70s, but if they clear like yesterday some 80s will be expected.

TONIGHT: A few showers possible with a mostly cloudy sky. Low near 61, northeast wind 5-10mph.

TEXAS TECH FOOTBALL: Here for the first home game of the season and it will be another cool day. Highs will range from the 70s to 80s depending on cloud cover. There will be some isolated showers that pop up with the better chances east of Lubbock.

EXTENDED: Things will start to dry out and warm up into next week. There is a chance for some overnight storms Sunday into Monday. For now any activity looks to be to the far northwestern counties.

Have a great Friday! Wreck Em Tech! Matt will have the latest update to the forecast tonight on the News at Nine.
