Texas Tech Special Collections Library hosts Bill Griggs collection

LUBBOCK, Texas -

A new exhibit on Texas Tech's campus is paying homage to Lubbock's favorite son, Buddy Holly.

Tech's Southwest Collection/Special Collections Library hosts the Bill Griggs collection. It's part of the Crossroads of Music Archive.

The exhibit contains photos, posters, ephemera and artifacts from Griggs, who is considered to be one of the Rock 'n' Roll's legend's biggest fan.

"Bill was a huge 50's Rock 'n' Roll collector, big Buddy Holly fan, had journals that he wrote, he was a consultant and always gave tours at the Buddy Holly Center. He just always promoted 50's Rock 'n' Roll. So this is in honor of the Bill Griggs collection and Buddy Holly because tomorrow would've been Buddy's 82nd birthday," Crossroads of Music Archives and Archivist, Curtis Peoples, said.

Catch the exhibit at the Southwest Collection on Tech's campus through November before it moves to the Buddy Holly Center where it'll be up through the end of next year.
