Fall like temperatures today, rain chances through Friday

Posted: Updated:

Some storms developed early this morning and brought some additional rain totals to the west of Lubbock.

Plains seen over an inch of rain in less than 2 hours. Here are the totals over the last 24 hours as of 7am.
Tatum NM 2.21"
Spur 1.53"
Plains 1.51"
Dimmitt 0.85"
Tulia 0.79"
Plainview 0.72"
Morton 0.52"
Sundown 0.46"

TODAY: Cloudy for much of the area, this will help to keep the temperatures down. Highs only in the upper 70s and low 80s. North/northeast wind 6-12mph. We will continue to have showers and storms on and off through the day. These will have the potential to produce some heavy rainfall, like we have seen already for some areas.

TONIGHT: Low near 63, mostly cloudy with a better chance for showers and storms. Some flooding may be a concern for some areas tomorrow morning.

FRIDAY: Almost a repeat with highs in the 70s, mostly cloudy, and a 40% chance for showers and storms. Things may start to dry out for the northwestern South Plains through the day.

EXTENDED: A few storms possible Saturday but things should dry out by then. If the clouds stay put we may stay in the 70s. Then we will see more sunshine and warmer days into next week.

Have a great Thursday! Matt will keep you updated through the day and have the latest model run on rain chances, tonight on the News at Nine.
