This morning's low temperature was the warmest on record for this day, August 26th. Expect the heat to continue with more temps above 100° in some parts of the South Plains. I don't think we will break any record high temperatures this week, but it is certainly possible.
Tonight, expect a few clouds with lows near 73° and winds S at 15mph. Monday will be a bit hot with a high of 97° in Lubbock, however with a chance of isolated thunderstorms. Winds will be out of the SSE around 15mph.
The best chance of rain is during the beginning of the week with the slow approach of a cool front. Beyond that, temperatures drop slightly with clearing skies toward the weekend.
