LUBBOCK, Texas -

Texas Tech Police released the video that falsely implicated Red Raider running back Da'Leon Ward on theft charges.

You can see excerpts of the surveillance video from November in the player above. It's from the Texas Tech Rec Center.

Investigators identified the man seen in the red Houston Rockets shirt entering the Rec Center as Ward, naming him throughout the incidence reports.

Ward's attorney says that wrong ID could be from a stolen student identification card taken by a former friend of Ward's.

Over the next two hours the suspect repeatedly gets up and moves to and from the basketball courts and the bleachers before leaving.

Officers report a victim came to them a week later saying Da'Leon Ward returned the missing mobile phones and said Ward claimed he didn't take them, a friend did. Tech PD reports e-mails show Ward telling one of the victims someone used his card to get into the Rec Center, he wasn't there that day.

Police reports show from November 2017 through April 2018 Ward refused to meet with officers. On May 14 and officer noted he would present the case to the Lubbock County District Attorney's Office for review with Ward named as the suspect due to him returning the phones and knowing they were stolen.

Ward's charged were posted in June. He was arrested Tuesday. He left the jail that night. District Attorney Matt Powell dropped all charges against him Wednesday morning.

The suspect in the video hasn't been positively identified. No other charges in the case have been announced.
