LUBBOCK, Texas -

Governor Greg Abbott visited a New Braunfels middle school to go over ideas on improving education state-wide.

Educators, administrators and lawmakers proposed education reforms, focusing on elevating the profession and student outcomes.

Governor Abbott said the legislature will make safety a priority in January.

"There is no magic formula that will ensure absolute safety across the board. Based upon what you told me, I can tell your schools are better structured for better safety when the school doors open in the coming year to make sure your students are safer, knowing the state will be working in collaboration with you and schools across the state of Texas in the upcoming session to do all we possibly can to make our schools safe," Abbott said.

The governor will meet with educators in the Metroplex tomorrow to hear more proposals.
