There's been a lot of rain the last few days. Let's hope it made an impact on the drought. The weekly drought monitor is published every Thursday, but as we wait, don't expect much more rain.
Tonight, expect a few clouds with a stray sprinkle. Low temperatures will reach about 65° in Lubbock with a NE wind 5-10 mph. Monday is "cooler" as most of the South Plains remains in the 80s. Expect a high of 89° in Lubbock with a N wind 5-10 mph and partly cloudy skies.
An area of high pressure builds in next week, pumping in some drier air and keeping a cap on the atmosphere. As a result, we remain fairly dry. The forecast however has changed a bit as there is more evidence available that points to temperatures reaching the mid 90s and perhaps even upper 90s this week. I've kept temperatures increases restrained a bit, but don't be surprised to see upper 90s or perhaps even 100° pop up later.
