Former Muleshoe ISD educator charged with unlawful restraint of a minor

MULESHOE, Texas -

A former Muleshoe ISD educator is out on bond following her arrest for unlawful restraint with a victim under 17, a state jail felony.

Stephanie Lowery, 28, was arrested August 3 and posted bond the same day.

Muleshoe ISD reports it received information that an employee may have engaged in "conduct involving a District student that violated the District's educator code of ethics and, perhaps, state law."

The district placed the employee on administrative leave, started an investigation, and reported the allegations to law enforcement and the state's educator licensing agency.

The ISD reports the employee is no longer with the district, and indicates it takes every allegation of employee misconduct seriously to ensure its students are educated in a safe and nurturing environment.
