Hot rest of the week with a low chance for storms

Posted: Updated:
LUBBOCK, Texas -

STORMS THIS EVENING: FOX34 VIPIR is tracking a few storms in Eastern New Mexico and a few in the southern Panhandle. The ones south of Amarillo are slowly moving ESE.

South Plains radar

We'll probably see a few more storms around our area this evening into late tonight. Coverage of storms will be fairly spotty. Low temp near 71, wind E/SE 5-12mph. Sunrise Thursday 7:11.

HOT DAYS: Tomorrow and Friday will nearly be a repeat of today, with the high in the mid 90s. There is a slim chance for a late-day storm tomorrow, chance just slightly better on Friday.

WEEKEND: We expect both afternoons to climb to the low to mid 90s, partly cloudy with a few late-day storms in the area. At this point Sunday is looking a little better for some rain, but it's still only a 30% chance.

NEXT WEEK: Computers have trended warmer for the first half of next week. Earlier we were thinking upper 80s but now have the forecast in the lower 90s Monday through Wednesday.

7-day forecast

Have a great rest of your day. Bobby will have a full update to the forecast here early in the morning.
