Frenship ISD setting high expectations for new school year

LUBBOCK, Texas -

The ball's been rolling all summer at Frenship ISD for this school year. Administrators and faculty zeroing in on a personalized educational approach. This year the district is planning to build on its successes. One of the big ones is its improved ACT, SAT, and state assessment scores along with its workforce preparedness certifications.

"We had a lot of great success in the state assessment, but that is just one measure," said Frenship superintendent, Michelle McCord. "We try to look at whole child and just make sure that they are happy and healthy and that we are having high expectations of them and that they are able to realize the endless opportunities the future has in store for them."

With great success comes high expectations, Dr. McCord said the only way to meet those expectations is to set a strong foundation and it all starts with the investment of its teachers.

"Outside the parent the most significant predictor of the educational outcomes of a child is the effectiveness of the teacher," said McCord. "So we invest in the teachers and we try to personalize learning experiences for students so that they can be their best."

This year Frenship ISD will be implementing the academic decathlon and a men's and women's wrestling team. Dr. McCord said Frenship ISD will be welcoming about 10,000 students this year. The first day of class for all Frenship tigers is August 20th.
