UPDATE: UMC reports one victim dead after mobile home explosion southeast of Midland County

A victim from a mobile home explosion Southeast of Midland has died according to a representative from University Medical Center. 

The Midland County Deputies report the explosion severely burned two adults and two small children. All four were transported to Lubbock to be treated.

The remaining three victims remain at UMC. 

Around 10:00 a.m. Thursday, the Midland County Sheriff’s office received a 911 call that there had been an explosion in the county about 20 to 25 miles Southeast. 

Deputies arrived on the scene on East County Road 150 about a half mile East of South County Road 1040.  Deputies discovered a mother and two small children that had severe burns. The victims were loaded into an ambulance and transported to Midland Memorial Hospital. 

Later a medical helicopter made it to the scene and transported a male victim to Midland Memorial Hospital. As soon as possible, all four individuals were transported by air ambulance to the Burn Center at University Medical Center in Lubbock.  

People as far away as 15 miles reported their buildings shook and thought someone had ran into their building.
