Hot weekend, storm chance middle of next week

Hot weekend, storm chance middle of next week

Posted: Updated:
LUBBOCK, Texas -

FRIDAY EVENING: There are a few showers and storms in Eastern New Mexico moving into the western South Plains. These are slowly moving to the east.

South Plains radar

Unfortunately, the showers will likely diminish as they move farther east. We'll keep a low chance for a shower or storm through morning. Low near 72.

HOT WEEKEND: Saturday the sky will gradually clear through the day. Sunday will be mainly sunny. Both days will top out in the mid 90s with a gusty southerly wind up to about 20mph.

NEXT WEEK: It'll be sunny and hot to begin the week. By mid-week the ridge of high pressure should move far enough west, over the Intermountain West, to allow a front into the region. Computers are showing we may get some rain Wednesday or Thursday, though it isn't a great chance at this point.

The second half of next week doesn't look quite as hot.

7-day forecast

Have a great weekend. Robert will have a full update to the forecast here Saturday afternoon.
-Matt
