THIS AFTERNOON: Plenty of sunshine and hot, with the temperature in the mid 90s across much of our area. Unfortunately, this is a sign of what's to come next several days.
There were some showers and storms early this morning that made it to the NW part of our area. Dimmitt picked up about 1/2" of rain. But the storms fell apart before making it farther south.
DROUGHT UPDATE: More of our area, including Lubbock, is now in D3-extreme drought status. There aren't any signs of drought improvement any time soon. This is the latest update out today.
TONIGHT: Mostly clear, low 70. Wind S/SE 8-15mph.
TOMORROW: Mostly sunny, high 97. The wind will be a little bit stronger, S/SE 10-18mph. There might be an isolated shower or storm west, near the state line. It'll be warm but nice for the First Friday Art Trail in downtown Lubbock.
WEEKEND: Both days will be sunny and hot with a gusty south wind.
EXTENDED FORECAST: With a ridge of high pressure aloft there won't be much changing from day to day. Some computers are showing a front moving into the region mid-week, maybe with some rain. But this far out we aren't too confident on the rain chance.
Have a great rest of your day. Bobby will have a full update to the forecast here early tomorrow.
