Some storms in area tonight, hot and dry days ahead

LUBBOCK, Texas -

THIS EVENING: We're watching some storms across NE New Mexico and the Texas Panhandle. These are moving south into our area. Not everyone will get rain, the coverage of storms will probably diminish the farther south storms move. Also, these storms have been severe warned north of our area. Some storms may produce strong wind gusts here.

South Plains radar

It'll be partly to mostly cloudy, low near 68. Chance for a shower or storm through early morning.

THURSDAY: Clouds should diminish through the morning, high near 93. Wind SE 5-15mph.

EXTENDED FORECAST: There might again be a few isolated showers or storms late Thursday into early Friday but it's not much of a chance. High pressure aloft will build across the region, leading to sunny and hot days. The rain chance may not be zero over the next week, but there isn't a significant chance through the next several days.
