Plainview Downtown Association presents “Young, Wild & Tax Free" event

Plainview Downtown Association will be presenting “Young, Wild and Tax Free: Back to School Bash” Second Saturday – Out on the Downtown in Plainview’s downtown historical district on Saturday, August 11th beginning at 10:00 a.m. and continuing throughout the day.

Activities during the day (10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.) include a Youth Market, entrepreneurs ages seven to sixteen learn to the basics of customer service, money management and sales while presenting their product or service to the public at Millennium Park (800 Broadway) as well as food trucks on the west side of the Courthouse (5th & Broadway), yoga at 11:00 a.m. at the Courthouse, Birthday Bash at Hello Baby (107 E. 7th St.), “Play me Street Piano” at 607 Broadway and story time at 2:00 p.m. at  Diana’s Traveling Boutique (707 Broadway).

Second Saturday merchants will also be giving away backpacks, school supplies and a bicycle. The winners for the backpacks and school supplies will be announced at 3:00 p.m. at Millennium Park and the bicycle winner will be announced at After Hours on Ash at 8:00 p.m. on Ash Street between 6th & 7th Street. Participants can register at the following retailers: Allstar Fuel, Broadway Gifts and Antiques, CC’s Junque and Antiques, Diana’s Traveling Boutique on Broadway, Hello Baby Apparel, It’s a Girl Thing, It’s a Girl Thing Too, The Rusty Rose, Salvation Army, Turpen Insurance and Federal Teachers Credit Union. 

After Hours on Ash will include “Bash on Ash” on Ash between 6th and 7th Street from 7:00 – 10:00 p.m. The Bash will include bouncy houses, glow stick dance, waterslides and fun food. At dusk, the Plainview Junior Service League will be showing The Incredibles on the lawn at the Courthouse. Concessions will be available and all monies raised will benefit Dress-A-Live Doll program.

For more of an adult evening, C.A.M.P. will be hosting a “Party on the Patio” celebrating Rigo Rey’s mural “Seed” from 8:00 – 10:00 p.m. The museum will be open and food and drinks will be available.

The Plainview Downtown Association is dedicated to the continued growth of this project and is confident that the consistency of downtown events being held on 2nd Saturdays will generate increasing participation, boosting tourism and encouraging economic development.
