LUBBOCK, Texas -

THIS MORNING: It was a nice, cooler start this morning with a low of 60 in Lubbock. Here are locations in our area that dropped to the 50s on the Texas Tech Mesonet:

Floydada 55
Tulia 55
Aiken 56
Friona 56
Abernathy 57
Dimmitt 57
Earth 57
Hart 57
Ralls 57
Near Texas Tech 59
Muleshoe 59
Olton 59
Plainview 59
Reese Center 59

THIS AFTERNOON: The heat isn't too bad with mid to upper 80s across much of the area. FOX34 VIPIR has shown a few small showers near the state line, but thus far, nothing significant. Rest of the area just has a few clouds.

TONIGHT: Mostly clear and pretty nice once again. Low in Lubbock near 64 with upper 50s expected around Muleshoe, Olton and Dimmitt.

low temp forecast

WEDNESDAY: Warmer and mostly sunny, high 93. Wind S/SW 5-15mph.

high temp forecast

NEXT STORM CHANCE: While an isolated shower or storm is possible Wednesday afternoon, the better chance for our area is later Wednesday night through early Thursday. At this point the better chance is farther northwest of Lubbock. The line will probably be weakening the farther southeast it moves.

storm chance late Wednesday

HOTTER DAYS: High pressure aloft should be somewhere over or near our area this weekend into next week, leading to lots of sun and highs in the mid to maybe upper 90s. The rain chance will stay low for a while.

7-day forecast

Have a great rest of the day. Bobby will have a full update to the forecast posted here early tomorrow.
