(LUBBOCK, TX) July 31, 2018– Lubbock Aquarium is currently taking applications for students to serve as Lubbock Aquarium Student Ambassadors (LASA) for the 2018-2019 school year.

The Lubbock Aquarium recognizes how integral the children of the community will be to the success of the aquarium, and they wish to provide an opportunity for the voices of local youth to be heard as the aquarium becomes a reality. LASA is designed to create community involvement and leadership opportunities within area schools.

To join LASA, students must be in grades 3rd through 12th. Applicants must fill out the application form and submit it by thedeadline of August 20, 2018. Each student ambassador will have the opportunity to focus on one of the missions of the aquarium: Education, Philanthropy or Conservation. Each LASA member will be partnered with college mentors from Texas Tech University and Lubbock Christian to give guidance on choosing a project and developing leadership skills such as creating a club at their school, how to conduct meetings, speaking to groups, and other valuable skills.
