DPS respond to crash on FM-1412 in Deaf Smith County, pedestrian killed

HEREFORD, TX -

The Texas Department of Public Safety was called to a fatal car vs. pedestrian crash Thursday night on FM-1412 in Deaf Smith County.

At approximately 9:43 p.m., Cecelia Aguilar, 19, was walking east in the eastbound lane at night on FM-1412  about 15 miles north of Hereford.     

David Nipp, 35, was driving a 2002 Ford F-350 east on FM-1412 in the same location. Nipp did not see Aguilar walking and was unable to avoid colliding into her.

Aguilar was pronounced dead on scene. She was wearing headphones while walking down the road. Nipp was not injured and he was wearing his seat belt.

Road conditions were dry and there were no other vehicles involved.

The crash remains under investigation.
